AE stands for architecture and engineering.  URBIA is the state of belonging to; a group, company or community...which is rich in experience and design, facilitated through the integration of form, function and feeling.

AE URBIA is a group of architects and engineers devoted to improving companies, communities, and cities by creating “great spaces,” which provide rich experiences and improve efficiencies, regardless of size and location.  They combine form and function with materials and technologies to find creative, sustainable and cost effective design solutions in a timely manner.   They are dedicated to improving the quality of life, experiences and the bottom line for their clients.

AE URBIA has expertise in both commercial and residential projects and is currently licensed in more than 20 states and has worked in over 15 countries. They have successfully completed over 4,500 projects and have won over 80 design awards. They are recognized for their creativity, speed of delivery and fun nature. Notable projects include: the LDS Jerusalem Set, the Polynesian Cultural Center Renovation (w/MLD), The Laie Hawaii Courtyard Marriott, Pirates Cove, Leadbetter Farms, Jurassic Park Universal Studios, the Atlantis Resorts in Nassau & Dubai, Thanksgiving Point (w/Alex Schiel), Pluralsight, the Oklahoma City Whitewater Park (w/Cloward H2o), and many others.

He is a licensed architect, professional engineer, civil engineer, structural engineer and is a LEED accredited professional. Prior to becoming licensed he worked construction and as an artist. This allows for a holistic approach to design and construction, unmatched by others.

James Williams, president of J.M. Williams and Associates (JMWA) and AE URBIA has over 30 years of experience. Since starting JMWA in 1992 the firm has successfully completed over 4,500 projects nationally and internationally. James is a Licensed Professional Engineer, Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer, and Architect and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He has served as president of the Structural Engineers Association of Utah, has served on and chaired several committees and is a member of numerous engineering and building associations. He has also served on the Orem City Board of Building and Fire Code Appeals. James is licensed in 20 states and has worked in more than 15 countries. Notable projects include: the tallest water slide in the world, the tallest manmade waterfall in the western hemisphere, the world's longest gondola, the steepest funicular, the largest museum of natural history in North America, Jurassic Park at Universal Studios Orlando, and the water features for the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas and on Palm Island in Dubai, to mention a few. He has received numerous awards including Best Engineering Design and the Industry Award for Excellence for his contribution to the built environment. J.M. Williams and Associates also received two national awards from Residential Design & Build magazine for their Leadbetter Farms Project on the Washington Coast and Pirates Cove in Boulder, Nevada (which was also named the best residential project in Nevada for 2008). JMWA is an NCSEA national finalist for the architectural design and engineering of the Clyde Companies Corporate Office Building and was also awarded the 2007 Building Project of the Year from the Associated General Contractors. In 2010 James was the recipient of the international TCA, Irving Gill distinguished architect award. J.M. Andrew Bollschweiler has been with AE URBIA and J.M. Williams and Associates, Inc for over 17 years.  His responsibilities include; Project Development, Client Relations, Marketing and Production.  Although Andrew holds a contractor’s license he chooses to use his skill set in the development of buildings and commercial projects.  He has been responsible for over $10 million square feet of industrial space, and has been involved with a ride variety of projects.

The firm was originally founded in 1992 (the AE URBIA Brand was established in 2004), specializes in all building types and has successfully completed over 4,500 projects.  They are currently licensed in more than 20 states and have worked on projects in over 15 countries.  They have received over 80 design awards.

This one-of-a-kind dwelling was designed to capture magnificent views of the entire Wasatch Front. The outdoor fireplace provides serenity to those who enjoy relaxing on large covered decks which overlook the rolling landscape. The wonderful views are not limited to the three decks since the great room has 20-foot high ceilings with glass walls and natutal scone surrounding the fireplace.

James M. Williams of AE URBIA and J.M. Williams and Associates, Salt Lake City, Utah based firms, has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the Irving Gill Distinguished Architect Award for his creative and ingenious use of Tilt-Up concrete. He is a licensed architect, structural engineer, civil engineer, professional engineer and LEED AP. Williams is highly respected in the design community and is one of only a few who are both an architect and an engineer. Although he has numerous noteworthy projects, one of his most recognized is the Clyde Companies Corporate Office Building which transformed . . .

James M Williams of AE URBIA / JMWA is a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) and has demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building techniques, the LEED Green Building Rating System, and the certification process. The LEED AP program is administered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), which was established with the support of USGBC to allow for objective, balanced management of then credentialing program.

James M Williams is also an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Utah Chapter. The USGBC is a non-profit organization that certifies sustainable businesses, homes, hospitals, schools, and neighborhoods. USGBC is dedicated to expanding green building practices and education, and its LEED Green Building Rating System.

The LEED Green Building Rating System is a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED addresses all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies in five areas; sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality.
